TUTANKHAMUN WINS THE CHIEF MINISTER’S CUP, GR.3

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n his past two attempts the favourite in this race Lincoln has had to settle for second on both occasions, finishing behind Ruffina in Kolkata and Castlebridge in Bangalore but was determined to make amends in the Chief Minister’s Cup, Gr.3. Tutankhamun (Phoenix Tower-Dancerllon) who finished sixth on his first outing in Bangalore over 7f, was brought out over this 6f trip and it definitely made a difference. Jockey Suraj Narredu had the winner settled in the middle of the field with the favourite Lincoln on a start to finish mission trying to runthe field off their feet leading them into the straight. The Satish Narredu-trained Tutankhamun managed to get a rail run on turning for home and while he was hoping for the gap to widen so that he could squeeze through, he realized that there was no sign of generosity on the part of Lincoln, and switched to his outside only to find himself squeezed between Lincoln and Siobhan. Once straightened, there was no stopping him and he went on to win from Captain Courage who appeared on the scene with giant strides by ½ length with Siobhan a further length away in third.
