CAVALLO VELOCE CAUSES MAJOR UPSET IN THE BTC ANNIVERSARY CUP
Indications were that it was hard to look beyond Castlebridge in the B T C Anniversary Cup, after his win in the Shapoorji Pallonji Million over 6f where he beat a field of ten horses most of whom were higher rated than himself while carrying top weight. How then did Cavallo Veloce (Lucifer Sam-Mink Mitten) get the
better of him? In his summer campaign the winner finished ninth to Castlebridge in the Shapoorji Pallonji Million after receiving loads of weight from the winner and then finished in the same position in the Chief Ministers’ Cup. Cavallo Veloce was well settled on the rails in third while Castlebridge, now running in new colours having been recently sold for a handsome price, was on his outside waiting for the opportune moment to make his move in the home straight. When he did, Castlebridge looked to set sail as a winner till Cavallo Veloce, taking the shortest route home on the rails, came back with a challenge and fought hard all the way to the line, getting the better of Castlebridge, winning by ¾ length at the post. Eyebrows were raised and punters were unhappy with this result.
