TRULY EPIC HAS HIS MOMENT IN THE SUN WINNING THE RAJENDRASINHJI MILLION

It must have been truly frustrating finishing fifth in his last three outings in Pune, twice to Excellent, in the F D Wadia Trophy and the S A Poonawalla Million, and finally to Pioneer in the Pune Derby. Truly Epic (Mull Of Kintyre-Sun Control) has always run with good company and was looking for his day. The six horse field was full of potential winners. Connections of most of the runners hoped they would win. The Imtiaz Sait-trained Truly Epic used all the experience he has gained to have his moment in the sun, beating the favourite Intense Stylist to win his second race from six career starts.

Hope And Glory took over the running with Excellent Sorrento on his outside. Intense Stylist was ridden in control on the wider outside, with Merlot on the rails and Truly Epic and Hammersmith bringing up the rear. Excellent Sorrento soon took over the running with Hope And Glory and Intense Stylist following, in close attendance was Merlot and Truly Epic, with Hammersmith in the rear. As Hope And Glory started to fall back, Excellent Sorrento kept the lead with Intense Stylist, Merlot, Truly Epic in close touch with each other, with Hammersmith sticking to the rear. Excellent Sorrento was the first to go under pressure with Intense Stylist in the lead followed by Merlot and Truly Epic who had begun his challenge. Jockey Akshay Kumar got into Truly Epic and he lengthened his stride to get Intense Stylist by ¾length at the wire.1¾length away in third was Merlot who was followed by Hammersmith 2¼lengths away in fourth. Owners Mr Hemant S Dharnidharka & Mr Dinesh G Virwaniwere quite confident about a win and so this must have been quite satisfying.
