PURTON WINS JOCKEYS CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE SECOND TIME

Australian jockey Zac Purton won a second Hong Kong Jockeys title which was hard fought till the final meeting of the 2017/18 season. Purton, who won the championship in 2013/14, ended the year with 136 winners. The Brazilian Joao Moreira, who was riding for the last time under a Hong Kong license to depart to ride in Japan and has been champion for the past three years, ended his campaign with 134 winners. John Size gained a tenth Champion Trainers title and a third successive win. The Australian ended the campaign with 87 winners and a prize money haul of HK$176,441,240.
