DR CYRUS POONAWALLA FELICITATED AT PUNE RACECOURSE

The Committee, Stewards, Board of Appeal, Trainers & Jockeys Association felicitated Dr. Cyrus S Poonawalla at the Pune race course on being conferred with an honorary degree of ‘Doctor of Humane Letters’ for his outstanding contribution in the field of vaccination and providing life-saving vaccines to the underprivileged, especially children. Previous recipients of the award are former US President Barack Obama in 2006, Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former President of Liberia and the 2011 co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012, and Anthony Fauci, MD, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in 2008. Dr. Poonawalla is the first Indian to be conferred with this degree.
