YAUTCHA DIM SUM TEA HOUSE
This restaurant created in 2004 by Allan Yau who previously created the Wagamama (Japanese) and Busaba (Thai) restaurant chains has now opened its doors to a 200 seat restaurant in the Bandra Kurla complex. The Mumbai Yauatcha is the brand’s first international outpost. Designed by the Paris-based architecture firm GBRH, it is a contemporary yet casual tea house that offers an all-day dining experience with a wide array of traditional dim sum and wok items served with an exceptional offering of Chinese and Indian loose leaf teas. A peaceful retreat from the chaotic city, the palette of materials used forms a modern interpretation of an old Chinese tea house with 153 tea displays adorning the walls and the use of dark wood offering a vibrant contrast to that of white marble. This distinctive ambience is achieved by carefully balancing the spacious architecture which is made more enduring by its design, lighting, ambient sound, as well as the magnetising aroma. This split level restaurant spread over 12,000 square feet makes it double the size of Hakkasan.

How better to savour the first experience than by trying out the Chef’s personal recommendations. From the wide selection of Dim Sum, on special recommendation is the scallop shumai, Chilean seabass mooli roll, Shanghai siew long bun with chicken, steamed cuttlefish in spicy sauce, truffle edamame dumpling, crispy prawn cheung fun, pan-fried turnip cake with dried shrimp, sweet green tea sesame ball (this is an unusual taste) and the pei fong tong soft shell crab. You could also relish a variety of wok items and absolutely spoil yourself with stir-fry lobster in spicy XO sauce, baked Chilean seabass in supreme soya with egg white, Mongolian style lamb chop, double cooked pork belly in chilli sauce and spicy aubergine, sato bean, okra and French bean.
