STAR SUPERIOR SHINES IN THE DECCAN COLTS CHAMPIONSHIP STAKES, GR.3

The last time the two, Star Superior and Corfe Castle met was in the Poonawalla Breeders Multi-Million, where Corfe Castle reigned superior. He then went on to win the Shapoorji Pallonji Breeders Juvenile Colts Championship, Gr.3 over the mile and the Youngsters Million over 7f. He then came up against a strong adversary in Sir Cecil who after annexing the Bangalore Classics has then been sent to Mysore to contest the Classics. If all is well, there is minor opposition to him there. The Rajesh Narredu-trained Star Superior (Excellent Art-Ramjet) has taken a different route, travelling to Hyderabad with an eye on the Classics there.
It appeared to be a two horse race with Star Superior and Corfe Castle garnering all the support as the five horse field went to the starting stalls. Suraj Narredu had the favourite Star Superior quickly out of the gates and into the lead with Psychic Force in his shadows followed by Willow Glen, the Nilgiris Derby winner My Opinion and Corfe Castle gracing the rear. Psychic Flame ranged up alongside Star Superior and took over the running around 4f out. In the next furlong Corfe Castle, who was content at the rear of the field was brought sharply into contention and 400m from home it was a two horse with Star Superior dominant throughout winning by 1¾ length from the Corfe Castle. My Opinion finished in third 3¾ lengths adrift. The rest were far away. This win sets him up well for the big race in October.
