THE ELECTORATE OF THE RWITC VOTE FOR “CLEAN & FAIR” RACING

The build up to the 103rd Annual General Meeting of the Royal Western India Turf Club Ltd was not so much about the resolutions that needed to be passed, but all about the elections of the Committee Members and the Board of Appeal. As far as I can recall, there have always been two factions that fight it out to the last but this year the elections become a three pronged battle with a few new entrants into the fray. While campaigning was relentless months before the elections took place, it took on a slant of being more personalized. At the end of the day it was the objective of “Clean & Fair Racing” that won the day with the entire team that worked relentlessly towards that objective now given a clear mandate that that is what the electorate wants to see happen in racing. It is an uphill task, but with the initiative already in action the new committee knows that the year ahead is going to be a tough one. But if there is unity nothing is impossible. The election results were as follows:
