CAMBRIDGE STOLE THE SHOW FROM NEW ENGLAND

It was a battle of English territories on the Pune racecourse in the Pune City Gold Cup, Gr.3. New England was the favourite in the eight horse field but Cambridge had won a hat-trick, two in Mumbai and the last in Pune over the 7f trip. The Pesi Shroff-trained gelding had won over the mile in a two horse race beating Supreme General in Mumbai and was now running over the same trip.
B Fifty Two took to the lead with Your Royal Majesty and Perfect Star in close call while Cambridge settled well on the rails under Neeraj Rawal with Auburn on his outside. New England was two off the rails with Supreme General on the inside and Whomakestherules in last.
They remained that way with Auburn catching up with the front runners to run in fourth. Running in pairs Cambridge and New England were running alongside each other as they made the turn for home. Neeraj Rawal moved sufficiently wide to make a clean sweep in the straight and jockey A Sandesh astride New England stayed glued to his outside. As the challenge began it was Cambridge who began it with ease, while New England was being scrubbed to catch up. With giant strides Cambridge overhauled Perfect Star and B Fifty Two, with only Your Royal Majesty yet to be taken care off. Auburn came with a big run in between the two but none could stop Cambridge from winning by ½ length from New England, who came with a late burst to finish in second. Your Royal Majesty finished ½ length away in third Auburn a neck away in fourth.

The win was impressive, making this his fourth consecutive win and seventh from nine starts. He is in great form so what stops him from continuing his winning streak?
