ZARKAMIYA RETIRED
Zarkamiya, the three-year-old daughter of unbeaten superstars Frankel and Zarkava (Zamindar), has been retired after suffering an injury in the Gr.1 Prix Vermeille. The Aga Khan’s homebred aristocrat was third behind Kitesurf (Dubawi) in the 2400m contest, but picked up an injury that rules her out of the Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. She will instead join her outstanding mother in the Aga Khan’s broodmare band. Zarkamiya made a winning debut over 1600m at Longchamp in April and took the Listed Prix de Thiberville at the same track in July. She was then third behind Worth Waiting (Bated Breath) in the Gr.3 Prix Minerve before her final start in the Vermeille almost two weeks ago. She is a half-sister to the Gr.1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Zarak (Dubawi), who stood his first season this year at the Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval. They are the only two of Zarkava’s offspring to have made it to the track so far. She has an unraced two-year-old by Invincible Spirit named Zarkallani, a yearling filly by Siyouni, foaled a colt by Sea The Stars this year and returned to Dubawi to be covered.
