THE MADRAS RACE CLUB : A BONANZA FOR OWNERS WITH GREAT STAKES ON OFFER FOR THE WINTER 2018 SEASON

The 32 day Chennai Winter Season kicked off on 19 October, 2018 with some very attractive stakes on offer for the season that culminates on 17 march, 2019. Total stakes on offer is ₹12,11,10,000 which will be distributed over the 198 races scheduled during the season. Stakes might go up to 15crore rupees depending on the division of races. Prize money for races for 2yo, 3yo and Class I races are expected to be around nine lac rupees, which is the highest on offer in the country. 84 Cup races have been framed which should see a payout of ₹24 lacs. More than 650 horses including about 200 two-year-olds are likely to take part in the rush for gold. A new totalizer system has been installed and betting terminals have been increased to facilitate easy access for the punter.

22 ‘A’ licensed and 10 ‘B’ licensed trainers along with 29 ‘A’ licensed and 26 ‘B’ licensed jockeys will be seen in action. Foreign jockeys are welcome to ride during the season. Entrance fee for the first enclosure is ₹40, ₹10 for the second enclosure and ₹120 in the member’s enclosure.

There will be no Auction Sales of horses during the season.
