MISSING YOU IMPRESSES IN THE POONAWALLA BREEDERS MULTI-MILLION, GR.1
There was no looking beyond Hunt For Gold in the betting ring, for she had won both her starts over the 7f trip and looked set to complete a hat trick of wins, in the most prestigious juvenile race, the Poonawalla Breeders Multi-Million, Gr.1. Others that were given some consideration were Marinetti, the winner of two races in Hyderabad and horses that had already had a win under their belt. The Dallas Todywalla-trained Missing You (Arazan-Change Of Luck) had run two promising races over 6f, beaten by Thailand on the first and Headway the second time round. She was not settling for playing bridesmaid anymore and chose the grand stage to show what she is capable of.
The 30th edition of the Poonawalla Breeders Multi-Million started off with an even jump by all the 13 runners, six fillies and seven colts, with the Bangalore challenger, Dragon Mountain and the Hyderabad winner Marinetti taking to the lead, with the rest of the field in close call, Missing You and Hunt For Gold in mid bunch. Makthoob soon took over the running from Dragon Mountain, Marinetti in third with Missing You now making a move and Hunt For Gold doing the same on the inside. Before the heads turned for home Missing You had effortlessly moved into contention behind Makhtoob and Dragon Mountain. With a little persuasion from David Allan, Missing You took over the lead with Headway, Hunt For Gold and Trouvaille making a serious challenge. Missing You kicked off to a 3 length lead with Trouvaille pushing hard in second and Hunt For Gold in third. Missing You was eased up as she crossed the line 1¼ length ahead of Trouvaille, ¾ away in third was Hunt For Gold with the Juliette putting a blistering challenge in the finishing stage of the race to fill the frame in fourth, ¾ length behind. David Allan has now won this race for the second time having won it on Ruffina in 2017. For the Poonawalla Group this completed a hat trick of wins, having won it last year with Corfe Castle, a full brother to Ruffina.
