I AM INVINCIBLE TO COVER WINX
Australian supermare Winx (Street Cry), who retired after her last start in mid-April this year, will visit I Am Invincible for her first cover. The seven-year-old mare was a joy to watch on the track, with a total of 37 wins from 43 runs at a strike rate of 86 per cent, including an unheard-of 33 back to back winning streak and prize money totalling over £14m. With 25 of those wins at Gr.1 level, the mare was unequalled around the globe and is now set for a slightly slower pace to life at stud.
After consulting numerous industry professionals, owners Peter and Patty Tighe (Magic Bloodstock), Richard Treweeke and Debbie Kepitis have decided to keep Winx in Australia for her first mating, citing welfare of the mare travelling overseas as one consideration in their plans. Her chosen suitor stands at Yarraman Park and, at A$247,500, is currently Australia’s most expensive sire. I Am Invincible, a son of Invincible Spirit, has been added to the Australian history books himself earlier this year, with an unmatched 28 Stakes winners
in a season, including Gr.1 winners such as Oohood, Voodoo Lad, Viddora and Invincibella.
From his first crop he sired dual Gr.1 winner and Australian Champion Three-Year-Old Colt Brazen Beau. That promising young sire, who stands for Darley in both hemispheres, had his first crops reach the track this year, with the Listed-winning and Gr.2 and Gr.3-placed Accession in Australia and the Listed winner Avengers Queen in Europe the pick of the crop for him so far. Whilst I Am Invincible was no superstar on the track himself, his efforts in the shed have also attracted another celebrity female in the unbeaten in 25 starts Black Caviar (Bel Espirit), who visited him in 2018.
