CHAMPION FILLY WELL CONNECTED DOES IT AGAIN IN THE DECCAN FILLIES CHAMPIONSHIP STAKES, GR.3

The champion filly Well Connected (Arazan-Guest Connections) from the yard of trainer S Padmanabhan came from an impossible position to clinch the Deccan Fillies Championship Stakes, Gr.3 by a short head from Gift of Grace. The Multi-Classic winner maintains her unbeaten status from four starts and looks set to add more laurels to her credit. The progeny of Speaking Of Which looked set to open the Classic tally for the inmate of Usha Stud Farm only to be denied that, by incredible riding on the part of jockey A Sandesh and amazing spirit and ability on the part of this bay filly. 

Thailand jumped to the fore with Gift Of Grace quick to come alongside her. Well Connected, Exclusive Art and Artistryy followed by Sasakwa, Cape Kidnappers and Roll Call in the rear. Before the 6f marker Gift Of Grace took the lead ahead of Thailand and Exclusive Art, fighting hard while held in check. Well Connected stuck to the rails waiting and watching. As they swung into the home stretch Gift Of Grace was in the lead on the rails, Thailand was set for the challenge, Well Connected was taken wide to avoid traffic. Roll Call, Cape Kidnappers and Sasakwa were practically running in line with the Champion filly. The front pair gained ground with every stride and Well Connected looked to be in serious trouble being driven hard by Sandesh without the desired response coming from her. She seemed to be drifting sideways till Sandesh gathered all momentum and headed for the post. Inside the last 100m Gift Of Grace had Thailand on her heels when Well Connected appeared with incredible determination to win by a short-head from Gift Of Grace. 1/4length separated her from Thailand, who rode her heart out in this race. 2¼lengths away in fourth was Cape Kidnappers. Timing for the race was 1:39.07s.
