COSMIC RAY LEAVES THAILAND STRANDED IN THE RAGHULAL MYSORE 1000 GUINEAS, GR. 3
After a close finish in the Deccan Fillies Championship Stakes in which Thailand was third to Well Connected by quarter of a length, she was well and truly fancied to win her first Group race going out the favourite in the Raghulal Mysore 1000 Guineas, Gr.3. Except for winning her debut she has run six Terms races, but success has always eluded her. So here she was, the on-money favorite in a field of six runners, ready to make it hers.
Thailand went straight down to business from the S S Attaollahi-trained Cosmic Ray (Burden Of Proof-Corsican Gal), Abira and Bostonia followed next with Lady of Luxury and Rorito the back markers. There was no change in the running order, with Thailand bringing the filed into the home stretch already being niggled to step up the pace. Cosmic Ray was put into action by Suraj Narredu and in a couple of strides had relinquished the threat from Thailand, while Abira and Lady of Luxury were been pushed to catch the leader. Cosmic Ray lived up to the expectations of her connections by winning her first Classic in style, 3¾lengths to the good of Abira. Lady of Luxury and Thailand followed them home. While Cosmic Ray has always been touted to be a good filly she was fortunate that the champion filly Well Connected was station in Hyderabad, too far to cause any discomfort.
The property of URBB Ltd, Cosmic Ray will try to raise her game but opportunity to do so will appear when not pitted against the champion filly Well Connected.
