THE CALCUTTA COLD WEATHER SEASON 2019-20

The 25 race day Winter season commenced on 2nd November, 2019 with approximately 178 races, 67 of which are trophy races, to be run during that period, where horses will fight hard for their share of the Rs 880,39,300 total prize money on offer for the season. In addition there is a total value of Rs 16,30,000 added as value of Cup and Trophies on offer. The season will conclude on 28 March, 2020.
The Club presently has 418 horses in station which includes 120 two-year-olds. Many more horses are expected to visit the centre during the upcoming season. As decided by the Turf Authorities Of India there will be free movement between all racing centres in India of horses rated 67 and above at the centre at which they last raced.
18 trainers and 21 jockeys have been granted ‘A’ licenses and for now there are 21 ‘B’ licensed jockeys and 7 apprentices that will be seen in action on the turf.
