ANJEZE STEALS THE BANGALORE 1000 GUINEAS, GR.2 WITH GRACE
The last time Anjeze (Win Legend-Angelique) traversed the mile she went on a start to finish mission in the Fillies Championship Stakes during the Bangalore summer, and obviously that tactic didn’t suit her for she finished a tiring third to Well Connected. A change of strategy saw her sit well with the pace in the Bangalore 1000 Guineas, Gr.2 biding her time, and when it came she gave it her all to win by a neck from Gift Of Grace, who has now played bridesmaid on her last four starts. Anjeze has now won four of her six starts and will definitely be enroute to Mahalaxmi to assert herself in the Indian 1000 Guineas.
Allowing Crack of Dawn to take the lead on her inside, the S S Attaollahi-trained Anjeze settled well with Well Connected and Gift Of Grace on her outside, looking to be in no rush to keep pace with her main adversaries. Gift Of Grace kept on diligently alongside the leader while Well Connected followed in her shadows with Anjeze sticking to the rails in fourth. She had the backmarkers join her as they turned for home and looked to have left too much to do, for the leaders had stolen a march. Fortunately for her, as they straightened Well Connected shifted away sufficiently allowing Anjeze to leave the rails and raise a challenge on Gift Of Grace. It was a stirring battle to the line as Gift Of Grace kept the momentum up, Anjeze was driven out fully with Well Connected on her outside not willing to give up. In the final moments Gift Of Grace refused to give up on the rails, Anjeze kept creeping up in the middle and Well Connected was a shade behind. Anjeze managed to pull more out of the bag as she took the lead in the shadow of the post to get her neck ahead of Gift Of Grace while Well Connected conceded the fight finishing 2¾ lengths away in third.
The property of Sarainaga Racing Pvt Ltd, Anjeze already has earned close to 3crore rupees and will definitely try to add a Classic to her portfolio next time out. Her dam Angelique (Elusive Pimpernal ex Nafazaka[USA] by Caro) has already produced a Classic winner in Angel Dust that won the Bangalore 1000 Guineas, Gr.2; the Garuda Bangalore Derby, Gr.1 and the Kingfisher Derby Bangalore, Gr.1 so the connections must be hoping that Anjeze will write her own story soon.
