TRAFALGAR TAKES THE SUPER MILE TROPHY HOME TO KOLKATA

After a disappointing performance in the Indian Derby the James McKeown-trained Trafalgar who had scored in both the Monsoon and Winter Derbies in Kolkata, was strategically placed in a race the connections felt that could now bring out the best in him. Needless to say they were worried about Classic winning milers Gift Of Grace and Cosmic Ray and the third Bangalore challenger Prevalent Force. And rightfully so.

Glorious Destiny was the fastest out with Trafalgar and Gift Of Grace soon catching up. Prevalent Force, Truly Epic and Cosmic Ray were in close attendance. Glorious Destiny brought the field into the home stretch with Trafalgar on the rails and Gift Of Grace on his out. From the rear lot Cosmic Ray and Prevalent Force made a dash for it and came closer to the front pair of Tafalgar and Gift Of Grace. The battle soared as David Allan astride Trafalgar was not willing to concede to A Sandesh on Gift Of Grace. The two fought hammer and tongs all the way to the line with Tafalgar moving the better of the two to the line winning the Major P K Mehra Memorial Super Mile Cup, Gr.1 by a length from Gift Of Grace. Prevalent was third a further 1¼ length away.
